If you’ve experienced or witnessed a frightening event, it can trigger a condition called PTSD, or post-traumatic stress disorder. PTSD can cause many symptoms, including uncontrollable thoughts about the event, intense anxiety, flashbacks, and nightmares. It is relatively common among veterans, affecting between 10% and 30% of them. Fortunately, post-traumatic stress disorder can be treated.
